Sonam Dorji

Sonam Dorji holds ton of experience and have worked for more than decades in the field of festivals and music events. He is the founder and Executive Director for Music of Bhutan Research Centre, Bhutan. He has a master’s degree in music from Maharaja Sayajirao University, India. He also has PhD in music from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, Gujarat, India.
International audiences know Sonam through his soundtrack contributions to the acclaimed Bhutanese film, Travellers and Magicians (2004) and his appearances at the Smithsonian's Festival of American Folklife (2008). CD released, “Music from the Mountains of Bhutan” on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, his appearances at Smithsonian Folklife Festival at Washington DC in the year 2008. Participated in London Olympic Games Music Festival (2012), Appeared at Jaipur Literature Festival, India, 20013.Appeared at Asian Society talk show in Mumbai, India, 2013.  Concert tour of Austria, Germany and Belgium in 20014. Participated in 44th ICTM World Conference (International Council for Traditional Music), University of Limerick Ireland, July 2017. Participated in International Folk Music Film Festival, Nepal, November 2017. Participated in Rainforest World Festival, Malaysia, July 2019.
Participated in 45th ICTM World Conference (International Council for Traditional Music), University of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand,2019.  Participated in online conference and concert series organized by Bard College Conservatory of Music, 2021. Participated in Dubai Expo in 2022.
